Don't use this plug in, it makes an overload in SQL tables and size.....

I recognize it's a heavy load but the options to tune it are present. You only need to have patience and configure it. Hint: in shared hosting environments it may obviously overload your database because shared hostings are commonly oversold and crowded, so you are sharing memory and cpu with zillions of websites...

I called my host about this and they said to put that in place would do the job but it would severely slow down the performance of the site so I opted not to. Right now if someone tries to log in with an invalid user name they get blocked for a couple of hours. That will do the job for now but I get an email every time that happens from Wordfence (my option) so I can tell and the emails are just rolling in. It gives me anxiety. I'd rather just block the whole country since I'll never do business with any of them.

@Mark, ironically, I have that installed on one of my sites but for the life of me I can't figure out a way to do the country blocking. That was actually my first choice but it isn't clear as to how to do this.

@patrickhealy

Hello there

1) Log in To CloudFlare

2) Click on Dash Boards

3) Click on Threat control

4) Add custom rule bottom of the page

5) Type China and press Block

This about the easy way of doing it

I must say i use:

1) CloudFlare (Security High)
2) CSF (Security High)
3) Mod_Sec (Standard Rule Set out the box)
4) PHP suhosin (Standard Rule Set out the box)
5) cPHulk Brute Force Protection (Standard Rule Set out the box)
6) WordFence (Security High)

Over all the systems are in place but if i don't keep all my plugins and stuff up to date it will all be in vain.

So as a note if there is a up date dont think just press that button :)

Thank you Kindly

Wow, they've updated the settings. It was never this easy. Thanks for the heads up. I've blocked a bunch of the bad guys. Let's see if this tones things down.

HI,

I once installed this plugin and then deleted it. I figured some tables were left behind in the database so I went ahead and deleted them as well via PHPMyAdmin. However, at times, my visitors report that they face an error report and that includes a path to WordFence plugin.

I'm really wondering how an error can be found at a plugin which does not exist. I triple checked and the path shown in this error file does not exist in the first place. See the screenshot: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/164290_401562323291774_1646752780_n.jpg

How can I get rid of this WordFence error even after removing this plugin?

Out of the blue wordfence security doesn't work anymore. I get the:

Reason: Exceeded the maximum number of page requests per minute for humans.

I deactivated wordfence, activted it again an on the first reload I get the Error Exceeded the maximum number of page requests per minute for humans

I can't access any option, so I am not sure what to do

any help?

Hi,
(Sexual Health Education site: NSFW Not Safe For Work)

I had wordfence security plugin installed when 2nd hacking happened and recently phishing.
I have taken steps as given in WordPress Codex and wordfence documentation.

Web Host recommended Bulletproof security plugin.

It may sound silly, but I wish to know if I can use both wordfence security plugin and bulletproof security plugin together.
Is there any thing else that you can recommend?

Thanks,
Dr. Ashok Koparday

Good stuff... I'd love this feature too. The trouble with the blocking of all unknown users is that sometimes people make typos then get erroneously blocked out... having a blacklist like "admin" "editor" "moderator" etc... would be super helpful.

These are plugins just like any other and they may or may not work together well. Their performance may also be affected by the theme you use as well as other plugins that you have installed. The only real way to find out is to try them both.

You can also try Googling both of them along with the word "conflict" to see what results you get.
