The latest version of Wordfence auto updated on one of my websites and I ended up with the infamous white screen of death. I tried to log in to the backend and got 500 errors and Gateway timeouts so no go. In FTP, I isolated all plugins, got the site running again and then added them in one by one. When I added Wordfence it stopped the website again so I removed it and reinstalled it from scratch. No problem installing it but it would not activate so after much messing around I removed it completely. I have 30 other websites with Wordfence, including Premium installations…..now do I try to upgrade the others or use another plugin?
