We are experiencing odd issues on our site. Over the last few days we have faced the 503 error page when attempting to go to login: “Your access to this site has been temporarily limited by the site owner”, this is BEFORE we even get to the login screen. It will not send us the unlock emails (and yes, I’ve tested and it does send emails). The only way to login is to rename the plugin via FTP, turn off the firewall with the WF Assistant, and then turn WF back on. When this occurred 3 days ago, it was resolved after the first attempt, and we’ve been able to login as usual.
Today it happened again, and I had to bypass it the same way again. Now that we are logged in, we found another odd behavior: When we logout, it sends us back to the 503 error page immediately, saying access is limited. But, when we go to the homepage, we are still logged in. Obviously, this is very concerning, if we are unable to logout.
In the error logs, it shows some PHP errors in the WF files (up until the issue was resolved 3 days ago). The errors are:
PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent in …/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/waf.php on line 1135, and also for …/utils.php on line 715, …/utils.php on line 716, and …/utils.php on line 717. These errors stopped 3 days ago when I regained access to the site, so do not know if it’s related or not.
We also have Sucuri firewall enabled on the site, but have not encountered this problem before. I suspect there is a caching conflict happening, but need to find resolution to this security issue quickly. Any help would be appreciated!
