dmdcissp on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Cannot access Free API key"
I have already checked with my hosting provider and they do not see any errors on their servers, yet I keep getting the following error from Wordfence:
Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence "options" page and hitting "Save Changes". This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can't connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.
What can I do to get this working again as it was working yesterday just fine.
kbonner on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Word fence Firewall install not completing - how it got fixed"
Hi, I had a problem with a installation on a godaddy server. The firewall would just never install, even after I tried making the manual install as described in the instructions.
After working with a great guy at tech support, we fixed it. This is what we did: renamed the php.ini file to php5.ini - also we had to update the php version from 5.2 to 5.4. Did this in the cpanel.
I had already inserted this line into the php. ini file
auto_prepend_file = "/whatever-your-path-would-be/wordfence-waf.php"
so I'm not sure if it would've worked without that.
hope this helps someone out!

Sounds like the same unresolved problem here:

I'm confused since nothing has changed between yesterday and today. Especially with MySQL.

I think I will go ahead and uninstall it. I was thinking about signing up for the Pro version, but now I am unsure about entering in the Pro API key.
katherinewang32 on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Require strong password not being enforced in password recovery"
I have the "require administrators to use strong password" option checked and "Lock out after how many login failures" and "Lock out after how many forgot password attempts in my settings" set to 5 times.
When the admin user performs a password recovery, they are seemingly able to set a weak password and WordPress doesn't give them any warnings.
Later, when the admin user tries to log in with the weak password, the weak password is rejected.
They either try to log in a few more times with the weak password or do more password recoveries and end up getting locked out.
Is there any way to disallow the weak passwords when using password recovery?

Thanks ratethatrescue,
I will try to investigate this as far as I can. At least we are seeing a pattern in that it is the same table every time.
MySQL logs can be tricky to find especially on shared hosting but if at all possible, you could check them for any indication that MySQL crashes and is forced to restart (restarted mysqld). The logs are usually in /var/lib/mysql but on shared hosting that folder is not accessible. You can ask your host if you want. This information would not resolve the issue, it just might get us a bit closer to the answer.
I will do some more research on this too and get back to you as soon as I can.

Great news! Thanks for checking back in snaphappyme!
aichedvs on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Scan won't complete --> Stored Data not found after a fork"
I too had the "...Stored Data not found after a fork..." problem with Wordfence 6.1.3. The scans worked after I unchecked "Scan for signatures of known malicious files".
After Wordfence updated to 6.1.4, I rechecked this. But the first scheduled scan simply stalled after scanning 4100 files. There was no error message.
I have again unchecked this and manually started another scan. This time the scan successfully completed. Do you still have a bug?

Great news stear111! Glad I was able to help. Thanks for checking back in and thanks for explaining how you solved it!
jthieling on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Change 'Top 5 Failed Logins' Wording on Wordfence Dashboard Widget"
Currently, when there is nothing to report for the Top 5 Failed Logins, the dashboard widget reports, "We're collecting data, please check back soon." This is confusing and ambiguous for users. It should state clearly something like "There have been no failed login attempts since <DATE OF LAST FAILED LOGIN> or <DATE OF INSTALL>".
I know it's kind of a low priority thing, but I really think it could ease the minds of many users.
Thanks for your consideration, and for the awesome software!

Hello again Ryan,
we had a similar but not identical report a while ago. We released a fix for it with 6.1.3. Which version of of WordPress and Wordfence are you using?

Indeed ini_set was disabled and this has now remedied.
Cheers

The link to add the line in wp-config worked!
Thanks, now it is disabled.
mountainguy2 on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Word fence Firewall install not completing - how it got fixed"
Wow! I'll give it a try. And perhaps I should switch to Godaddy, Liquid Web is no help. I asked of their "Managed Wordpress Hosting" tech support if they had much familiarity with Wordfence. The answer was less than inspiring. What the heck is "Managed Wordpress Hosting" anyhow? I'm beginning to see the phrase can mean about as much management as the asphalt on the street in front of your house. When it gets a pothole, they might fix it, eventually...
kbonner on "[Plugin: Wordfence Security] Word fence Firewall install not completing - how it got fixed"
I thought that I was all set, and had another godaddy install, and it totally broke the other one! still working on it. have manually deleted the word fence and the wflogs, and site admin is all messed up. what a nightmare :(
